Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Secretary General Liaqat Baloch said on Sunday the royalty of Diamer Dam should be given to the people of Gilgit Baltistan. He said what sort of wisdom it was that the government was firing at people instead of providing them with justice. This he said while talking to Gilgit Baltistan JI vice Ameer Maulana Abdul Sami and Chairman Dam committee Ata-Ullah on telephone. He said the chief minister vowed to visit the area and decisions would be taken. Stressing the Prime Minister, Qamar Zaman Kaira and Manzoor Wattoo to resolve the issue, the JI Ameer said the chief minister was also dodging the public as he did not made any development despite of powers. He said the people feared of the treatment formerly met to the affectees of Tarbela and Mangla Dam adding this fear should be removed by government’s due role. He stressed to abolish the culture that large amount of money was received from abroad in the names of building dams but it was devoured. He said the affectees should be given employment in the project adding technical institutes should be established for those who were untrained. On the occasion Maulana Abdul Sami briefed the JI Ameer of the whole matter and said so far as the demands of the people were not fulfilled, issues could not be resolved.
