Slow speed of Internet service is inconveniencing consumers of Gilgit Baltistan. A large number of people have complained of slow Internet speeds, while the Journalists are having problem in Ftp . National and international organizations in Gilgit Baltistan are experiencing huge problems. Although the broadband policy approved by the government in 2004 envisaged wider penetration of “always on” internet connectivity in the country with a minimum download speed of 128 kbps. Since a major portion of the infrastructure is owned by the SCO and is reluctant to share it with other service providers, therefore, the latter have to built their own infrastructure, which is an immense waste of resources. Neither the Ministry of IT and Telecom (MoIT) has provided any policy guidelines nor the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has been able to break SCO monopoly in Gilgit Baltistan, which is harming other operators to come and start their services to the people of Gilgit Baltistan. When it comes to the administration of Government in Gilgit Baltistan its can be ranked as zero having no policies,no administration and a group of dummies are acting on administration Levels. The Officials of goverment must realize that their is need of national companies like PTCL in Gilgit Baltistan so that the communication and Broadband Internet may be available to the consumers of Gilgit Baltistan. This will Strengthen the communication gap between organizations and institutions of Gilgit Baltistan with the other parts of Pakistan and Worldwide.
